Lung Cancer Europe (LuCE) is pleased to announce its collaboration with FairLife- Lung Cancer Care and Prevention and 19 organizations – members to launch a public lung cancer awareness campaign, starting November 1st, to mark Lung Cancer Awareness Month. The aim of this campaign is to encourage people to get checked for lung cancer, in case they have symptoms or risk factors associated with the disease.

Lung cancer has the highest death rate of all cancers in Europe. Why? Many people are not aware of the symptoms and risk factors associated with lung cancer.

Remember, anyone with lungs can get lung cancer! The earlier the disease is detected, the better the outcome. Get Diagnosed!

“Our goal is to educate everyone on lung cancer symptoms and risks, so more people get checked earlier for lung cancer.” – Anne-Marie Baird, President of Lung Cancer Europe (LuCE)

The campaign Get Diagnosed 2022 is based on the campaign Get Checked 2021, focusing on the process and steps for diagnosis.

The website getchecked.eu is a reliable source of valuable information, available to European citizens in 17 languages – Croatian, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Spanish, Swedish and Ukrainian.

.

Why get checked?

Lung cancer has a death rate of more than 50%, because many people are diagnosed at a late stage, when there is a lower chance of survival.[1]

People often don’t get checked because they do not know they are at risk. People do not need to smoke or be exposed to second-hand smoke to get lung cancer— anyone with lungs can get lung cancer.

What can you do?

If you experience any of these symptoms or are exposed to any of these risk factors, don’t wait, get checked! An early diagnosis can not only save your life, but also improve your quality of life.

How can you get checked?

Discuss your symptoms with your doctor, who may refer you to a specialist. They may do tests to check for lung cancer.

Who can help you get checked?

If you have any questions or concerns about how to get checked, visit us at Lung Cancer Europe, or contact one of our Member Organisations in your country for additional information and assistance.
