STATEMENTS FOR FAIRLIFE

The Hellenic Society of Medical Oncology (HeSMO) is  a non-profit scientific association, promoting Clinical Oncology, which officially belongs to Core medical training (P.D. 204/1998) and relates to the treatment of patients with malignant neoplasms  (any form of cancer). Lung cancer, unfortunately, accounts for a 25% of all cancer deaths. FAIRLIFE LCC comes at the right time to fill the gap, given that the disease claims many human lives each year.

It is a great pleasure and honor for HeSMO to accompany FAIRLIFE LCC on its journey towards a world without lung cancer. We wholeheartedly welcome the FAIRLIFE LCC team and the power of “WE”. In unity we stand strong”.

”Fighting lung cancer is an everyday battle. It is a real challenge for us to support FAIRLIFE LCC initiatives to raise people’s and institutions’ awareness about lung cancer prevention.

The Hellenic Thoracic Society (HTS) focuses on the importance of screening for early diagnosis of lung cancer. Our goal for Greece is to create a country with the lowest lung cancer rates. Screening can help diagnose the disease at an early stage, when treatment is more likely to be effective. Well-informed citizens as well as the cooperation of all competent authorities are considered necessary, in order to include lung cancer screening in the national health strategy. The Hellenic Thoracic Society will continue to work in a coordinated manner to achieve the above goal.”

”The Hellenic Society of Pathology is at the forefront of the fight against lung cancer by performing Pathological diagnosis and identifying prognostic and predictive markers. We join FAIRLIFE LCC to claim the timely disease prevention and the optimal medical therapy of lung cancer patients.”

”Radiation therapy is a very powerful weapon in the fight against lung cancer. It can be used either alone, in early stages or in combination with surgery, chemotherapy or immunotherapy in more advanced-stage cancer. Although radiation therapy plays an important role in curing, we should never forget Hippocrates’ words “Prevention is better than Cure”. But in case we have to cure, treating the disease at the earliest possible stage is highly important, because cure rates are very high for patients, who have early-stage cancer. The Hellenic Society for Radiation Oncology (HSRO) and FAIRLIFE LCC share the same vision of a world without lung cancer by raising awareness toward prevention and early diagnosis. And therefore we proudly support this incredible effort.”

‘’The Hellenic Cardiovascular and Thoracic Society of Surgeons (HCTSS) is the official scientific and professional company of Thoracic Surgeons in Greece. Thoracic Surgery refers mainly to the surgical treatment of lung cancer and coronary artery disease, which are two of the most important effects of smoking. The purpose of HCTSS is the development of modern surgery and the progress in lung cancer research, aiming to improve health services provided to patients. HCTSS, therefore, supports and collaborates with all scientific societies and social institutions, fighting against the scourge of smoking and its dramatic effects, such as lung cancer. Within this context, our company strongly supports FAIRLIFE LCC activities, which aim at the best possible care for lung cancer patients and at the population-wide disease prevention.’’

” Recognizing the importance of treating lung cancer as the number one cancer in terms of new cancer-related cases as well as the leading cause of cancer-related mortality in our country – 8.650 new diagnoses in 2020 -, the Hellenic Cancer Federation – ELL.O.K. has included information about lung cancer, the importance of early diagnosis and treatment, in its action plan. We welcome our newest member, “FAIRLIFE LCC – Care and Prevention of Lung Cancer” and we believe that it will substantially support ELL.O.K.’s activity in reducing the impact of lung cancer through prevention measures and in implementing lung cancer screening and rapid, targeted treatment, based on molecular and genetic properties of the tumor. The active implementation of preventive measures, early diagnosis, the existence of new diagnostic tests and many new treatments can significantly reduce the effects of lung cancer in Greek society.”

“By serving as the international voice of lung cancer patients, the Global Lung Cancer Coalition (GLCC) is committed to improving disease outcomes for all. We can accomplish our mission by ensuring that policy makers, medical professionals, the media, and the public recognise the serious nature of lung cancer and the need for immediate action to meet patients’ needs. We are committed to increasing awareness and destigmatising the disease by delivering highest quality information and programmes through our member groups. As the strength of the Coalition rests in the commitment and influence of its members we are therefore delighted to welcome as a new member, FairLife Lung Cancer Care who support and represent lung cancer patients in Greece.”

“Nearly 10,000 people are diagnosed with lung cancer in Greece, with the disease accounting for 1 in 5 cancer-related deaths. Therefore, we welcome the setup of a specific lung cancer group, which will provide a voice for Greeks impacted by this disease. We hope FairLife will join Lung Cancer Europe (LuCE) in working and advocating for improvements across the entire lung care pathway. Many people with lung cancer are diagnosed with advanced stage disease. At LuCE we are backing the implementation of lung cancer screening across Europe as well as reducing the barriers to early diagnosis. We also call for better access to molecular testing, innovative therapies and clinical trials, as we know these will improve outcomes for our community. We have a stronger voice working together than working alone.”

“At the European Lung Foundation (ELF), our mission is to bring patients and the public together with healthcare professionals from the European Respiratory Society (ERS) to improve lung health and advance diagnosis, treatment and care. We are delighted to welcome FairLife Lung Cancer Care to the ELF patient organization network to represent the voice of patients and all people affected by lung cancer in Greece. Together we can better advocate for access to lung cancer screening at the European level to improve outcomes for patients and save lives.”

The IASLC is a global multidisciplinary organization dedicated to eradication of all forms of lung cancer. Thus, we are pleased to work with FairLife to promote joint membership. From provision of educational events around the world and virtually to research projects and publications that advance the science of lung cancer, the IASLC’s members—consisting of medical, surgical, and radiation oncologists, as well as other thoracic oncology specialists such as nurses, basic scientists, pathologists, radiologists, pulmonologists, statisticians, patient research advocates, patients, and their caregivers—are raising the bar for care of patients with lung cancer. As an active member of FairLife, the IASLC is proud to offer introductory discounted membership options.

The mission of the Global Lung Cancer Awareness Month Coalition (LCAM Coalition) is to bring together like-minded organizations from around the world dedicated to transforming lung cancer survival. We are delighted to welcome FairLife as we raise our collective voices to speak out about the importance of lung cancer early detection, treatment, and research.

At WALCE (Women Against Lung Cancer in Europe), we are very pleased to welcome FairLife to the lung cancer scenario, as we are really confident that their constant work and their dedication is a valuable and considerable asset within the European network, that  will enable them to help more and more patients to live longer with this disease and with a better quality of life.
