the 1st Panhellenic Student and Youth Creative Writing and Poster Competition of FairLife L.C.C

New youth anti-smoking campaign

 

Following our successful youth-led initiative, “14 minutes FairLife”, in 2021, our new youth anti-smoking campaign for a generation without smoking, vaping, and lung cancer, with the motto “Inhale… Exhale… Or BREATHE? The choice is yours – Through the eyes of children”, was presented in an online event on the 31st of May 2022. Approximately 4,000 students from 140 schools in Greece and abroad were recruited to accomplish this campaign by participating in the 1st Panhellenic Student and Youth Creative Writing and Poster Competition of FairLife L.C.C. for Primary, Middle School and High School students during the school year 2021-2022, with the approval of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs.

The President of FairLife L.C.C., Korina Pateli-Bell, comments on the competition and the anti-smoking campaign: “By inviting young people to participate in the competition, we came closer to them, the school community and their families. Thanks to their cooperation and interaction, we spread the message about the harmful effects of smoking and got inspired by their creative and imaginative work. As we are celebrating the European Year of Youth 2022, I would like to express my love and trust to the new generation, who can make a difference and give us important life lessons if we give them voice”.

Our motto, which got the first prize in its category for High School students, comes from the High School of Astypalea, the first smoke-free island in Europe. Inhalation-exhalation is the process of breathing but also smoking. The choice is ours. A healthy lung or a lung that will gradually get sick. The children’s paintings, as shown in the video, capture these choices in a very imaginative way and clearly send the message “Clean lungs, free life”. The award-winning paintings and slogans in the competition express the concerns of young people about the consequences of smoking and addiction and their thoughts on a future without smoking or vaping.

The anti-smoking campaign video was created based on the award-winning paintings and posters. We would also like to highlight the participation of award-winning students in the video with their messages, which they formulated with the help of volunteers, friends, and our Brand Ambassadors: Olympic Windsurfer Byron Kokkalanis, Greek Cycling Champion Zisis Soulios, climber Kiki Tsaklamidi, and student Orestis Fotis Mikelakis, as well as Akis and Anastasia Temperidi from the mission “The World Off-road”.

The company Pfizer was the major sponsor of the online event for the presentation of the new anti-smoking campaign and the companies Amgen, Takeda, and Metropolitan Hospital were sponsors.

The digital media platforms Infokids.gr and The Mamagers were communication sponsors of the event.
