A message of strength and optimism for the prevention of lung cancer is provided by Anastasia Gerolymatou, through a video she kindly gave to “FairLife – Care and Prevention for Cancer” ,the first non-profit social organization for lung cancer created in Greece in memory of Simon Bell, 57, who lost the battle with lung cancer in August 2020.

Mrs. Gerolymatou statement:

“I am Anastasia and I am 82 years old. My favorite pastime  is… windsurfing. I started the at the age of 40 and never stopped   ever since. It is my life. It’s not only the sport itself but also the  sea  the wind and the feeling of being close to nature. It fills me with joy and keeps me alive. I wish every person could get closer to nature through a sport or even a simple walk on the mountain. It’s the connection with the mother nature that makes us feel happy and keeps us fit.

We have to follow a balanced diet full of healthy and pure products and have medical check-ups every 6 months. When we start feeling that there is something wrong with our lungs It may be too late. We recently lost my brother-in-law from lung cancer. He never had  a checkup in his life. He was certain they were not necessary. When cancer stroke it was too late.  Had he been examined earlier  he would still be with us.

I wish the best to Fairlife and I hope they manage to help people realize the importance early diagnosis”
