FREE PSYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORT PROGRAM

Our mission is to support people throughout their complex journey with lung cancer, from diagnosis to treatment. In this context, we provide the free Psychosocial Support Program – BREATH for patients, caregivers and family members, in collaboration with experienced and qualified health professionals.

In the absence of an organized psychosocial support facility, exclusively for lung cancer, BREATH fills the existing gap and highlights the importance of psychological support that focuses exclusively on Lung Cancer, while approaching the issue holistically by involving the entire patient support system.

FAIRLIFE L.C.C.’s patient-centric approach is developed through digital services and support via phone to oncology patients and their caregivers. The targeted scope of the program, the specialized services and the support through various actions (psychological empowerment, physical exercise and well-being, social support, education) are also part of its innovative aspect.

In collaboration with the Hellenic Institute for Group Analytic & Family Psychotherapy and individual psychotherapists, we provide the opportunity to:

In the framework of the BREATH Program:

  • Merimna provides bereavement support to children, adolescents, and parents, before and/or after the loss of a loved one due to lung cancer,
  • KAPA3 – Cancer Guidance Center offers timely and accurate information about patient rights and personalised support in relevant bureaucratic procedures, and
  • Just Pilates Studio offers online Pilates classes for patients and caregivers to improve both their physical and mental wellbeing.
  • Eyes Of Light offers free therapeutic photography workshops available to lung cancer patients.

Lung cancer can be a lonely experience. Both the patient and their loved ones often experience fear, anxiety, and other negative emotions after diagnosis. Sometimes there is a growing distance between the patient and their loved ones. The need for emotional and social contact may be great, but the ability to maintain contact is usually reduced.

The patient may also feel the need to protect others from their pain. At the same time, caregivers and family members may feel unable to share their true feelings with the patient. This absence of mutual sharing of thoughts and feelings can cause feelings of loneliness and isolation.

Our aim through the BREATH Program is to highlight the importance of mental health and wellbeing for the quality of life of people living with and beyond lung cancer; to support them in processing their emotions; and to help them learn how to look after their own mental health.

Our ultimate goal is to “accompany” the patient throughout their journey with lung cancer. After all, according to the ancient Greek philosophy, “therapy” means “accompaniment”.
