WE RAN TO CELEBRATE LIFE!

FairLife L.C.C.  joined the 11th Athens Half Marathon, along with Christos Apostolakos, carrying a strong message of hope and optimism against lung cancer.

FairLife L.C.C. took part in the 11th Athens Half Marathon,on Sunday, March 19, 2023,  dedicated to the memory of the great Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis.  FairLife ran the 5 km route, alongside Christos Apostolakos, a friend and role model of determination and optimism in the face of lung cancer.

Defying the disease, Christos crossed the finishing line of the 5 km route in 33 minutes, showing once more his endless will for Life. Daily exercise, a healthy diet and mental well-being are his special allies. His words speak to our heart and inspire us all: “I am alive, part of this celebration of Life, I ran the race and I crossed the finishing line. It doesn’t matter if you get to the finishing line or how fast you run. What matters is that you made the effort. I’ve come to understand what a gift life is and I’m striving to be around as long as I can.”

Christos Apostolakos, a patient with stage IV lung cancer, has recently been treating the disease, receiving targeted therapy, after having been tested positive for a specific biomarker.  His personal story is a life lesson, a shining example of positive energy.

FairLife team joined the race, surrounded by patients, caregivers, family members and the ambassador Kiki Tsakaldimi, a source of inspiration throughout the race. Kiki Tsakaldimi emphasized with her presence the importance of physical exercise to prevent lung cancer and fight to the disease. “I am thrilled to be here today, after six months, alongside FairLife and its actions. Physical exercise is key to our health. We don’t give up, we don’t stop despite the odds. Christos Apostolakos is an inspiration for all lung cancer patients and beyond. To use his words: “When our legs get tired, we run with our soul!”

Korina Pateli-Bell, President of FairLife L.C.C. stated: “Together we attended the Athens Half Marathon and sent a message of awareness and prevention against lung cancer. Allies in the fight against the disease are physical exercise, a healthy lifestyle, mental health and optimism. We thank  Christos Apostolakos, a lover of life, a shining example of the never-ending fight! We would also like to thank Kiki Tsakaldimi, ambassador of FairLife L.C.C., for her participation and constant presence at our side. Last but not least, we would like to thank all our friends and supporters. Today we ran to celebrate Life!”
