Dr Psyrri, Chief of Medical Oncology and Associate Professor of Medicine, National Kapodistrian University of Athens Medical School, Attikon University Hospital, 2nd Dept. of Internal Medicine – Propaedeutic, Research Institute Athens, Greece.

She earned her Medical Degree from Patras University School of Medicine, Rio, Patras, Greece in 1993, and her PhD from the National Kapodistrian University of Athens Medical School in 2007.

Between 1996 and 1997 she did her Medical Internship at Saint Raphael Hospital (Yale affiliated Hospital), New Haven, CT, USA and at the same hospital from 1997 to 1999 her Medical Residency. From 1999 to 2002 she was Clinical Fellow, Medical Oncology, at Yale University, Yale New Haven Hospital New Haven, CT, USA.

From 2000 to 2002 Prof Psyrri was Research Fellow at Dr Daniel Di Maio’s Molecular Virology Laboratory, Yale University, New Haven, CT, USA. She joined the Faculty of Medicine at the Section of Medical Oncology as an Instructor, at Yale University School of Medicine, New Haven, CT, USA, 2002-2003 and was Assistant Professor, at the Section of Medical Oncology, at Yale Cancer Center, New Haven, CT, USA, from 2003 to 2009 and from 2009 up to present at the Faculty of Medicine, National Kapodistrian University of Athens Medical School, Attikon University Hospital, Athens, Greece.

Between 2007 and 2015 Prof Psyrri was the Translational Research Chair of the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) Head and Neck Cancer Group. She is also the Chair of Head and Neck Cancer Group of the Hellenic Cooperative Oncology Group (HeCOG)  a founding member of the Head and Neck Cancer Intergroup (HNCIG) and the European Representative of HNCIG .

Prof Psyrri is a member of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Faculty Group Head & Neck cancer. She is also a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), of the American College of Physicians (Associate), the American Medical Association, the American Association of Cancer Research and member of the Society for immunotherapy of cancer (SITC).

Furthermore, Prof Psyrri has been invited Faculty Speaker at several ASCO Annual meetings and ESMO Congresses: Member of the Scientific Committee, Head & Neck cancer track at the 37th ESMO Congress in 2012, Vienna, Austria. In 2015 she was ESMO Chair at the International Conference on Innovative Approaches in Head and Neck Oncology (ICHNO) in Nice, France and Co-Chair of the Scientific Committee Track Head & Neck Cancer for ECCO 2015, Vienna, Austria.  Prof Psyrri was Chair of the Scientific Committee Track Head & Neck Cancer for ESMO 2016, Copenhagen, Denmark. She has also been an invited faculty speaker at numerous international oncology conferences.

Her work has been awarded several prizes and recognitions, such as First Prize for Oral Presentation at Hellenic Society of Oncology Meeting, 2004 and 2019.  In recognition of her research, her work was featured on the cover of Clinical Cancer Research in December 2005, on Journal Cancer Epidemiology Biomarkers and Prevention in December 2007 and on Clinical Cancer Research in April 2010.

Prof Psyrri is the Deputy Editor of “Oral Oncology”.  She is also Editorial Board member of the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Annals of Oncology, BMC Cancer, Frontiers in Head and Neck Oncology and guest Editor of a special issue in Head and Neck Cancer of the Journal of Oncology. She is also ad hoc reviewer of several journals, including: Annals of Internal Medicine, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Lancet, New England Journal of Medicine, Nature Reviews Cancer, Head and Neck, Clinical Cancer Research, Cancer Detection and Prevention, British Journal of Cancer, Cell Proliferation, Thrombosis and Hemostasis, BMC Cancer etc.

She has published over 200 publications in peer-reviewed journals and several book chapters.
