Helena Linardou graduated from the Medical School of Athens University in 1989. She specialized in Medical Oncology initially in Athens and then in London completing the specialization program of the Royal College of Physicians and Radiologists, as a Medical Oncologist in Hammersmith, Mount Vernon and Charing Cross hospitals.

With scholarships from Greece and UK, she attended a three-year doctoral thesis program at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School, Imperial College London, successfully obtaining the title of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD in Oncology).

During her 9-year stay in London, she gained significant clinical experience in medical oncology and produced important research work of international interest. She was particularly involved in breast, lung and hereditary cancer, and was actively involved in the development of new technologies and molecularly targeted therapies.

Returning to Greece in 2000, she worked as a Scientific Associate Medical Oncologist at the 3rd Oncology Clinic, “Agioi Anargyroi”, Kifissia, and then as a Consultant Oncologist at “Euroclinic” of Athens. From April 2001 until June 2018 she worked at the 1st Oncology Clinic of Metropolitan Hospital, initially as Consultant and from May 2006 as Assistant Director.

Since September 2018, she is the Director of the 4th Oncology Dept at Metropolitan Hospital, with special interest in lung and breast cancer, cancer genetics, and immunotherapy, coordinating and conducting large number of clinical studies, and heading the Comprehensive Clinical Trials Center with a specialized clinical trials team.

She is an active member of the Hellenic Cooperative Oncology Group (HeCOG), also being the Coordinator of the Lung Cancer Working Group.

She is an active member of many international scientific societies, ESMO, ASCO, IASLC, EUSOMA, has served in many committees in ESMO, and currently she serves in the W4O ESMO Committee, while being one of the founding members of the W4O-Hellas.

She is the author of many peer-reviewed papers and chapters in scientific books.
