4 February World Cancer Day

“We join our voices. We play our part. We target inequities in cancer care.

 All equal, all unique!”

FairLife L.C.C. sends an awareness message as part of the global campaign “Close the Care Gap”

10 million people were lost to cancer in 2020 and the global inequities in care services add to the burden of the disease.

‘Close the Care Gap’ multi- year awareness campaign. A call on the global community – to take action against the inequities that prevent people around the world from accessing the cancer care they need – is being issued by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC).

The first year of the campaign (2022) focused on understanding and recognizing the social and other factors that stand in the way of equitable cancer care around the world as well as their impact on public health.

The second year (2023) aims to bring together the voices of friends, family, coworkers and communities to take action and fight for change. Not only medical advances and scientific innovation are celebrated, but also any individual or group action that can have a significant impact on the life of a cancer patient.

FairLife L.C.C. envisions a future, where cancer care is unaffected by social factors and joins forces  to close the cancer care gap by confronting inequities, helping to reduce stigma and advocating for fair access to innovative treatments and holistic support to every patient, caregiver, family member, impacted by lung cancer.

Korina Pateli – Bell, President of FairLife L.C.C., stated: “In 2023, we should not let any social factor determine our health. Especially, when innovation and scientific advances are creating new pathways in cancer treatment. We have a much better understanding of the biology of cancer and we have made significant steps to prevent, diagnose and treat. Yet, despite this progress, a significant proportion of the population still lacks access to essential health services. It is imperative to ensure that all cancer patients receive the care they deserve and need.
