Healthcare Business Awards 2023 -BREATH Psychosocial Support Program is honored!

 

FairLife Lung Cancer Care celebrates its 3rd anniversary, as the first non-profit social organization in Greece, exclusively dedicated to lung cancer. FairLife L.C.C.’s supportive actions for lung cancer patients and families have already made an impact on society.

The BREATH Psychosocial Support Program received a Silver Award at the Healthcare Business Awards 2023, which is FairLife L.C.C.’s 6th distinction within 3 years of operation.

The BREATH program

BREATH is the 1st organized free psychosocial support program offering nationwide services to people impacted by lung cancer. BREATH is implemented in collaboration with experienced and qualified health professionals from recognized institutions.

Main communication tools of the program are the internet and the 111 57 Information Line (operational since July 2021 with752 incoming calls between August 2022 and June 2023, 227 of which were related to psychological support). 80% of participants were fully satisfied with the program and services.

BREATH directly and indirectly touched over 3,400 people, considering that each lung cancer patient affects 8-10 other individuals within their social and family environment.

FairLife L.C.C.’s goal through the BREATH Program is to convey the importance of mental well-being for people living with lung cancer, to provide support for negative emotions and to provide guidance regarding their mental healthcare.

The philosophy behind BREATH is to stand by patients throughout their lung cancer journey.

The BREATH Psychosocial Support Program has been supported by TIMA Foundation, Lung Ambition Alliance, AstraZeneca, Roche Hellas, Pfizer, Amgen, BMS, Pharmaserve Lilly, Janssen, Takeda, Novartis, AEGEAS Non-Profit Civil Company.

FairLife L.C.C.’s mission is to holistically support people impacted by lung cancer, aiming to improve their quality of life throughout their journey from diagnosis to treatment.

FairLife L.C.C. works:

– to raise public awareness about prevention and early diagnosis, so as to reduce mortality rates
– for the right to be informed about lung cancer
– to promote equal access to diagnostic methods, clinical trials and innovative treatments
– to indicate the need for psychological support for patients, their families and caregivers
– to eliminate lung cancer stigma related to smoking.

FairLife – Lung Cancer Care was founded in memory of Simon Bell, 57, who lost the battle with lung cancer in August 2020.
