Anna Batistatou received her MD degree in 1988, from University of Patras Medical School, Greece. Her postgraduate studies are: M.Α. (1990), M.Phil. (1990) και Ph.D. (1993), Department of Pathology and Center for Neurobiology and Behavior, Columbia University, GSAS, ΝΥ, USA. In 1997 she was certified in the medical specialty of Pathology. Since 2002 she works in University of Ioannina Medical School (Elected Professor in 2013). She has continuous diagnostic and research activities. Her research interests focus on molecular pathogenesis of malignant neoplasms and the study of prognostic and predictive markers.  She has 209 international publications (pubmed), with 4023 citations and h-index:33 (Scopus). She is also author of a literary book entitled «Life in stone», Ed. FAGOTTOBOOKS, 2016.

During the last 5-years Anna Batistatou has the following positions: Chair of  the Working Group for Pathology, Central Board of Health (KESY) / Ministry of Health, Member of the Working Group for Guidelines on Screening for Cervical Cancer (KESY), Member of the Oncology Committee (KESY), National Representative of Greece in UEMS Specialist Section of Pathology/European Board of Pathology, Member of the Educational Committee and the Advisory Board of European Society of Pathology. She was also President of the Hellenic Society of Pathology (2016-2018 and 2018-2021), Director of the Department of Pathology, School of Health Sciences and Department of Pathology-Cytology, University Hospital of Ioannina and Chair of Faculty of Medicine, School of Health Sciences, University of Ioannina, Greece (2018-2020, 2020-2022).
